Baltic Sea states discuss pollution quotas

Countries bordering the Baltic Sea on Tuesday discussed quotas on pollutants and a system based on carbon dioxide emission trading in a bid to limit pollution in the ecologically fragile waters of the Baltic. The initiative was considered at a meeting of the Helsinki Commission's Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM), an intergovernmental grouping of nine Baltic coastal countries and the European Commission.(HELCOM)AFP - Countries bordering the Baltic Sea on Tuesday discussed quotas on pollutants and a system based on carbon dioxide (CO2) emission trading in a bid to limit pollution in the ecologically fragile waters of the Baltic.
