Charlotte Bobcats drop ownership of WNBA's Sting

Ex-Wolves assistant Zierden is new Lynx coach

The Minnesota Lynx hired former Timberwolves assistant Don Zierden as head coach on Wednesday. Zierden worked with the Timberwolves and Flip Saunders from 2000-05, before following him to the Detroit Pistons. "The Lynx have a great core group of players that I'm looking forward to working with as they continue to develop," Zierden said.

Sky Hires Overton as head coach

The Chicago Sky hired Bo Overton as coach and general manager Tuesday, replacing Dave Cowens, who resigned after the team's first season. Overton was head coach at Missouri-Kansas City and an assistant at Oklahoma, when Sky guard Stacy Dales played with the Sooners. The Sky finished 5-29 in its first season.

Leslie to miss 2007 season because of pregnancy

Lisa Leslie will miss the WNBA season because the three-time league MVP is pregnant with her first child. The 35-year-old Leslie is due in June, when the season will already be underway. "I will be cheering my teammates on," she said Thursday, when it was announced Lakers owner Jerry Buss had sold the team to season-ticket holders Kathy Goodman and Carla Christofferson.

2 season-ticket holders buy Los Angeles Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks were sold for $10 million Thursday to an investment group led by two of the team's longtime season-ticket holders. Kathy Goodman, a high school English and social studies teacher, and Carla Christofferson, an attorney and former Miss North Dakota, are the new majority owners in Gemini Basketball Holdings.

The Sacramento Monarchs hired former Seattle assistant Jenny Boucek as their new head coach on Wednesday.
