Seattle (18-14) hung on for an 81-79 win at Detroit on Tuesday to clinch a third straight playoff appearance. The Storm had led 56-31 with 9:20 left in the third quarter. |

Taurasi set a WNBA single-season scoring record in the first quarter and the Mercury built a big halftime lead in a 99-68 victory Tuesday night over the Minnesota Lynx that keeps Phoenix in the playoff race. The Mercury are averaging 95.4 points per game in the last seven outings. |

Tamika Whitmore scored 14 points -- all in the first half -- and Anna DeForge had 13 to lead the Fever to a 77-44 victory over the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. Whitmore had seven points as Indiana jumped out to an 11-0 lead, before Loree Moore hit a 3-pointer with 5 1/2 minutes into the game to get New York on the board. |
