The Sacramento Monarchs reacquired guard Chelsea Newton on Friday, trading their first-round draft pick to Chicago for a key part of their 2005 WNBA championship team. The Monarchs, who won their second straight Western Conference title last season, also received a second-round pick for Newton, who started every game of the 2005 season as a rookie defensive stopper with Sacramento. |

The Indiana Fever traded reserve center Olympia Scott to Phoenix for second-year forward Ann Strother on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 Strother, the 15th pick in the 2006 WNBA draft out of Connecticut, played in eight games and averaged 2.0 points during her rookie season with the Mercury.
